What do students learn in Music Lessons?
That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level to become familiar with your musical needs and goals. We do not teach every student similarly, we teach to the individual! For example: a seven-year-old in their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty-seven-year-old taking piano for the 2nd time. The main reason to choose Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music as your music lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. We will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. Your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help you accomplish your musical aspirations.
What if my child is interested but not gifted in music?
-
We believe that any exposure to music can positively impact your child’s development (including other areas of life as well).
-
Enjoyment and having fun while learning music is first and foremost – we emphasize the process!
What styles of music can I learn?
We offer instruction in a variety of styles and genres, including classical, jazz, and pop. Having difficulty selecting something you are interested in? Let us know – we will work with you to meet your interest.
Do you have Special Populations Music Classes?
Yes! Our classes are designed to help your child grow in their love for music. Emphasis is placed on learning the basics and expanding that knowledge appropriately according to each child’s ability. We strive to help all of our students perform at their highest ability while having fun! Private instructions are the most beneficial. Call for an appointment with our Music Director or our Special Populations Director. We will take the time to get to know you and your child so that we can assign each child to the appropriate teacher. Meet our Director-Mrs. Giles
I am an adult – can I take lessons at your school?
Yes! Our adult program is designed to help adults start any instrument. Emphasis is placed on music for recreation and opportunities to perform or learn in a group setting as well. Did you know that music has many health benefits too? We also provide lesson times on weekends and evenings to accommodate your busy schedule.
How do you choose your teachers?
All of our teachers have vast experience in teaching and instrument specific university degrees or experienced trained. After a lengthy interview process and background/reference checks, we only hire those teachers who are caring, nurturing, and imaginative educators, passionate about their teaching.
Do you offer in-home lessons?
We believe that kids flourish around other kids. They share their musical interest and motivate each other along the way. We do not offer home lessons and are excited to bring students into our home; (Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music). Many kids say, “It’s like my second home.”
