Testimonials
Being a kid today is not easy! That is why our students not only learn how to play an instrument but we teach them how to excel in life.
We help students who are overwhelmed with school, need a fun way to relieve stress, play air guitar, sing all the time, and more! Our music school is a family! We love our students and we love music!
"Performing in recitals as a child and teenager taught me about self-confidence. I learned from an early age that I was valuable or as Mrs. Giles put it, a “star” and I’ve carried that throughout my life. It’s surreal to work for the music school after being a student. It’s cool to see everything happen full circle. I’ve truly become more confident in myself musically but also as a person.”
- Celine, a piano student who started lessons at 5 years old and continued for 11 years. She graduated UGA with a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Studies Education .
“We want to thank Mrs. Giles, Mr. Mills, teachers & staff at LSSM for their continuous support of Victor’s growth not only as a musician but as a man.”
- Victor's parents.
Victor was 4 years old when he started attending Music for Little Mozart’s group early childhood music program. After growing up as a musician, Victor played the piano at Carnegie Hall in New York City! He competed in a high school literary competition and got 4th place in the state finals for a piano solo. Victor is part of the LSSM Ambassador Program & mentors younger students!

I am very pleased with the administration and teachers at Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music. I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Hall, Mr. Bice, D’Nessa Perry, and now Emily Carey. They are all excellent professionals and have helped me to improve my confidence and skill as an aspiring adult vocalist. And Mr. & Mrs. Giles (owner) are simply special people to me, genuinely kind and caring people. Being a student at this music school afforded me the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall In October of 2018 and hopefully again in July of 2021. I highly recommend LSSM.

LSSM brings out a new side of my 6 year old on the autism spectrum. I never knew he loved music until we came here. His piano teacher is very patient with him and keeps him motivated. He is learning a lot here and we are very pleased with LSSM.

I love the encouragement the LSSM staff and teachers offer. Everyone is in constant support of the students, both in our music and in our daily lives. Not a lesson goes by where I’m not asked what I’m up to outside of class, and how I’m doing. The LSSM family may be big, but everyone is valued and given encouragement.

My daughter started taking piano lessons here. We love her teacher, who has helped her learn music in a pressure free environment. As a result, my daughter is loving it and is drawn to playing it even more. I am a happy parent and would recommend LSSM to all parents looking for a music school…this is the one…

My daughter and son were very hesitant to take music lessons, but after the first lesson with Annie (for my daughter), and Andrew (for my son), they love it. My son is 6 years old and moody and Andrew is so wonderful with him. He has a lot of patience and knows how to distract him in positive ways. Your staff is always so kind and willing to help us in every way. I am so glad we picked your school for music lessons.

Ever since my child began with LSSM over a year ago, I’ve noticed that my child’s language and mathematics skills have improved. That’s why we chose for my child to play an instrument that according to pediatric researchers, “stimulates certain areas of the brain that controls their fine motor skills, memory and speech.” Pediatric researchers found evidence of the correlation between learning how to play the piano and positive stimulation on the brain of young children.

The atmosphere at LSSM is very inviting, friendly, and informal. The entire staff strives to be supportive to the best of their abilities. The teachers genuinely want their students to succeed in progressing and achieving their goals. LSSM is a fun encouraging environment to be in.

Mrs. Giles and her staff run a phenomenal music school. My first grade twins have learned so much with inventive programs and positive reinforcement. I am especially pleased with the confidence they have gained through the recital opportunities!

Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music staff are wonderful. You are not just a student here, you are family. They are always there to lend a helping hand inside and outside the school. They are concerned about your overall life. What can I say– just come join the family. You won’t be disappointed.

Meet Tonya
Tonya took music lessons from Mrs. Giles from 9 years old to 18 years old. Today, she is the Assistant Director of Bands at the University of South Carolina where she teaches courses in undergraduate instrumental conducting, directs multiple concert ensembles, works with athletic bands, and instructs future teachers. She received her Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia, before leaving the south to pursue her Doctorate degree in Wind Conducting at the University of Kansas. She now holds a doctorate in music and gets to shape young lives just like Mrs. Giles shaped hers.
Meet the Martin Family
The Martin family started lessons in 2002. They’ve been with the LSSM family for over 18 years. All three children: Katelyn (29), Arthur (23), and Samantha (14) have taken lessons with us.
Where are they now?
Katelyn worked as stage producer in productions at Yale University and Off Broadway in NYC. She met her husband while running lights & sound for Hillsong Church in NYC.
Arthur started with piano lessons and went on to learn cello in orchestra, vibraphone, and other percussion instruments in drum line and high school band. Arthur writes: “I will always have LSSM to thank for my passion for music. I’ve played at small concert venues packed with musicians, Carnegie Hall, on the field at the Georgia Dome, & more! If that’s what you can get out of 10 years’ worth of piano lessons here at LSSM, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.”
Samantha says, “If I could tell Mrs. Giles anything today, I’d say she’s a wonderful woman and an amazing teacher. Performing at Carnegie Hall made me feel more confident!”
